Ive spent almost an hour trying to get onto the 'Daily Chat' thread. It has gotten more & more difficult getting on this website, so i thought id just post here, in the hopes maybe the problem with the site could maybe be looked at or hopefully fixed?
I was just going to tell my most recent grizzly spider story...i was about to go to sleep, but went to the kitchen to fill up my water cup & a big spider crawled into the freezer when i opened the door for ice...i tried to smash it, but it got away to the ceiling, where i was able to get it...this time of year the spiders really hinder any kind of cleaning at night...i dont even like to walk tbrough the house after dark cuz of them. Im really tired of it..they scare the #*@& out of me!

I am writing as the wife of the man who has inherited property from his father. Approximately 90% of the property is covered in Hoarding. Approximates: 500 Tires, 20 Large mounds of wood, 4 hazardous structures once homes filled with stuff, many many piles of trash, mounds of sawdust, cars. My husband and I have no idea were to begin. We have cleaned out two of the cars and burnt some things. There was also a large amount of stuff in someone else's home that we recovered and cleaned out. This someone else recently called and said he found more. Its been slow going and Hard on my husband because he feels like this is someone else's stuff and he shouldn't be messing with it, and it also has memories. I feel like we have made a lot of progress though, however this project is to large for both of us to do alone.

Help in anyway is appreciated.

I am a disabled army veteran, and live with constant pain. I had a total hip replacement and back surgery over ten years. At some point, I became a hoarder. My 26 year old son was killed instantly in a car accident on January 13 th of this year. I simply can not get this home due cluttered. I have made some progress, but I believe my home could be due cluttered in one day. I need someone guiding me to help make proper decisions about this "stuff". Please, please, please, somebody help me.

I have 5 children and despite my best efforts I have never been able to get my house in order. I have two boys ages 14 and 4, and three girls ages 1, 8 and 13. I do the best I can to create a structured environment for them, but I know until I get this home completely organized it will never happen. We all have too many clothes and I've raised them to be sentimental so we all also have a lot of papers (drawings, notes, etc) that we have a hard time parting with. The children also have entirely too many toys but I can't make them get rid of them. The laundry is exhausting, I try to catch it up but it never happens..then I get frustrated and it piles back up again. Right now you can't walk in my room, the oldest girls room, or the oldest boy. I have just this week cleaned the youngest two's room or it would be the same way. I don't feel like a hoarder because my house is not as bad as those you see on tv. I have begun to wonder if I have a milder form of it. My husband has diabetes and I know he would like to live in a cleaner home. He was mortified when the ems had to climb over piles of clothes to get to him when he had a diabetic seizure and I had to call the ambulance. I would do anything to have someone who knew what they were talking about to come in and help me organize my large family's things. I wish my children could have friends come over and stay. I mostly want to be able to teach them better so their homes will be nice and neat.

any advice, links, and help appreciated.

Thank you,
Brandi

Hi
I am in a very desparate situation. I have written to both hoarders and clean house. The only response I got was they were not currently filming.
My grandmother has a very severe hoarding problem. In the past 10 years We have cleaned her house 3 times all three times filling At least 3-4 semi loads. The last rime Oct 2010 we cleaned kitchen and living room had a sale and made quite a bit of money only to find out 2Yrs of taxes had not been paid. Every penny went toward tax and penalty. At tha. time I took over all bills and paperwork only to discover she was overdrawn in her account and 11 credit cards were over Max. The only option left was to file bankruptcy. I have avoided going to her home until today because she has a huge water leak somewhere in the garage. I walked to the bathroom and toilet wasn't even in working order, and again every room is to the ceiling there is barely a walk path. I am so upset I don't. Know what to do I have to get some kind of help. Please if you know anyone that will help someone on a low income contact me. Sabby5h@comcast.net

Hi, I am desperate for help and we don't have funds to pay what help in our area will cost.
I am married and we have two boys. They were taken from us by Child Protective Services in May of this year due to safety hazards.
I had accepted that I was/am a hoarder long before that and have sought help through counseling. My counselor had a mother-in-law that was a hoarder so she had some experience and seemed to understand a lot about me. She had a miscarriage and stopped being a counselor. I now have a couselor that doesn't have any experience with hoarders. She doesn't even pretend to understand.
I had been trying to clean up our house before my kids were taken. I would spend hours working on an area and at the end of the day would feel defeated because of the lack of progress made.
My sister is a hoarder too and is the only one I know that understands me. My husband hates it but tries not to rock the boat. (LOL) My kids desperately want a clean house too.
After our kids were placed outside of our home we were court ordered to work with Family Support Services. They are not supportive and often critisize me for my efforts. In the beginning they told the judge that they would get us outside help but then told us that they don't have the funds to help someone like me.
We have been steady working on it but I am afraid I can't do it alone emotionally as well as physically.
I love my kids and really want to change for all of us. I want my kids home and safe.
We did contact 1-800-GOTJUNK. They came and gave us an outrageous estimate and told us they could do the work and take our things to the dump. They said they don't donate things like on the "Hoarders" show. I was totally okay with donating things but was upset when they said "dump". I don't hoard trash. I hoard clothes, sentimental things knick-knacks, toys, food and things I find on sale or for an amazing price. :( Most of our things could be resold or donated to a shelter or charity thrift store.
I would love some help ASAP and for aftercare if anyone is interested. Thanks

A&E
HELP FOR COMPULSIVE HOARDERS
Compulsive hoarding is a very serious problem affecting millions of Americans, their families and friends. Hoarders are often misunderstood leading to isolation, broken relationships and the inability to reach out for help. We have had the privelege of helping many affected by this condition and are reaching out to connect with more.
Hoarders on A&E is now in its fourth season. We will provide free and compassionate services for the hoarder which will include but not be limited to mental health support, professional organizers, recylcing, vetrinary care, animal housing support, bio-hazard removal and professional cleanup and/or junk removal services.
Our assistance is tailored to the type and size of the hoard. Whether we are dealing with a hoard in the home, an extensive collection spreading over acreage, or 2500 domesticated pet rats, our experts on the scene will be the best in their appropriate field to help the hoarder manage their current situation. If there are other agencies already involved in the situation when you contact us, our team is experienced in working with them and the hoarder to come up with the best possible outcome for all those impacted.
Hoarders chosen to be profiled in this series will also be offered a significant "after-care" package that will ensure ongoing mental health and/or organizational support. Each case will be considered on an individual basis and services will be tailored to fit the individual's needs by the experts on our staff. All of our professionals have experience in treating this population and are appropriately trained and credentialed.
We are looking for individuals who are willing to spend 4 days sharing their stories on camera. We understand that compulsive hoarding is an extremely emotional and difficult disorder. Therefore, it is our hope that by sharing your personal stories it will help others realize they are not alone.
What we are looking for
1. Individuals willing to tell their story.
2. Individuals motivated to change by a ticking clock or crisis caused by hoarding that needs to be addressed immediately.
3. We need to show how the hoarding has impacted friends and/or loved ones. These individuals will need to appear on camera and share their side of the story.
Whatever your crisis, whatever your story, we are interested in listening.
If you or someone you know is a compulsive hoarder, please go to our website at http://www.aetv.com/hoarders/ for more information and to apply.

You can also email us at Hoarders@sfpseattle.com or
